Set localtime (localtime) to Europe/Paris
« on: January 06, 2024, 16:32:35 »
Hello,

Sorry if the question is always solved (many times ;-) ), but I don't understand the German and Google translate is not accurate.

I'm testing MLD 5.4 (stable) on X86.

The time is set to Berlin. I can see only a possibility for Berlin and London. I can not find a standard solution to set the date on Linux or using 'dvbdate'.

It is not possible to record a TV channel based on the EPG information.

If my local time is 15 h 00, the display show 14 h 00.

Even if I set the time on a DVB signal, nothing is changed.

How to set the local time for MLD 5.4 ?

Thank you for any help.
Raspberry 3 (Rpi3) + MLD 5.4 + USB Drive
DVB card Sundtek MediaPro III only for TNT (DVB-T)

Hi Sganarelle,

could you have a look at the BIOS of your system on wich time the rtc is running?

The rtc should always run at UTC, not the local time.
According to the time settings in the WebIF under system, for MEZ it is Europe/Berlin, MLD is translating the rtc time to the local time shown in the OSD.
At the moment local time is UTC+1 and in summer UTC+2.
So currently my system shows the correct local time (MEZ) 12:00 in the OSD and bios (rtc) shows 11:00.
When you are programming a wake up timer MLD ist correcting the acpi wakup time from locale time to UTC.
So when a recording should start at 14:00 local time according to the epg, the wakeup timer is set to 12:55 (13:00 -5min).

If you have activatet ntp the rtc should be automatically set to UTC.
The same if you are using time setting by satellite (OSD - vdr-settings - EPG).

So you should not change rtc manually.

Regards
Klaus

Hi Sganarelle,

the local time for Paris is also MEZ (UTC+1 or UTC+2)
So the time setting in the MLD WebIF "Europe/Berlin" is also ok for Paris.

As I described in my last posting, it is very important that bios time (rtc) is running at UTC.
Satellites are also running at UTC.

Regards
Klaus

If you need a selection of additional time zones, you can install the locales-timezones package:
Code: [Select]
apt install locales-timezones

MLD 6.5 - lirc yaUsbIR - OctopusNet - XFX GeForce 9300 mit Intel E3200 - 2GB RAM - 22TB HDD - Lian Li PC-C37B - Samsung LE40A559
