Softdevice Mit Nvidia Karte
« Reply #15 on: October 02, 2008, 16:07:43 »
Easy question - easy answer..
Seg fault usually means your grafic card is not supported by vidix - sorry
Get an ATI9250 AGP

Ciao

'segmentation fault'...I wanted to ask you for view with client without ffcard what it is the simply solution?
I've different video card(ati9250;ati9600;nvidiaGeforce4;Mmillenium2)but the only solution for me now
is fb with a lot of cpu use.There is a mode for combinate one of these video cards for increase a speed with softdevice?

Thanks

Once I had this seg fault with a Matrox G550 and after some time I found out that it seems to be a problem with mainboard and VGA card (or maybe memory...?). So I´ve tried another board and everything was fine (with Vidix).
Do you have the chance to use a different mainboard?

With the beta MLD DFB is not ready yet. DFB will take some more time.
With the 0.6.0 DFB only works with the Matrox card.

I know I had this seg fault issue in the past, but after some tries, inkl. new installation the issue didn´t apear again.
So it´s hard for me to say what exactly was the problem. But I as far as I remember i had the issue when using a Matriox card with a mainboard with On Board VGA.

With the beta MLD I´ve tested 3 different mainboards (incl. Onboard VGA) and 4 different VGA cards with the Vidix Addon without one issue.

After all a Segmentation Fault is similiar to the Windows Blue Screen. Which can be a software or a hardware issue, e.g. memory problem.

So the only thing I can advise is trying different hardware and memory combinations - sorry...

Matthias

Do you use MLD 0.6.0 or 1.9.0?
With 0.6.0 I had same Problem!

@All:
:wand

No, it´s not a Problem with your Hardware.

But with MLD 0.6.0 Vidix is not working with Nvidia.
With MLD 1.9.0 it should work, but some users (mee to) had some Problems with Nvidia in 1.9.0 too. I hope this will be fixed soon.

19:33:39.0176 I [6007] [cVidixVideoOut]  brightness (0)
19:33:39.0176 I [6007] [cVidixVideoOut]  contrast (0)
19:33:39.0176 I [6007] [cVidixVideoOut]  saturation (0)
19:33:39.0176 I [6007] [cVidixVideoOut]  hue (0)

[setup-softdevice] vidBrightness: 50
[setup-softdevice] vidContrast: 50
[setup-softdevice] vidHue: 50
[setup-softdevice] vidSaturation: 65
[setup-softdevice] startup aspect set to (4:3 Normalbild)

Hi,

first, I think the segmentation fault comes because the versions of some Addons are not compatible. Also it can be a hardware problem. The mld-0.6 only works with a Matrox card, and only with vidix, not with dfb.
On my (slow) system the MLD-1.9 runs faster than the MLD-0.6. Vidix works on some different cards and dfb is in work and runs good on a i810 card (smt-7020s).

Quote
- /boot/grub/menu.lst
vga=.... bzw. video=... -- komplett gelöscht (1)

- /etc/vdr/plugins/softdevice/plugin.conf
PARA="-vo vidix: ....... -- geändert (2)

- /etc/modules
matroxfb_base -- eingefügt (3)

- /etc/vdr/run.d/
init_framebuffer -- scrpt erstellt (3)

- /etc/vdr/run.d/init.framebuffer

@sartana
Have you tried to run the MLD with a minimum of addons?
Just include Vidix, delete the rest and try it again.

Ciao

*NEID*

BTW: Welche Version von Vidix benutzen wir? Denke die letzte, also 1.0.0!?
