Hello

Since last firmware update(s) in january 2016, I experience judder in some videos, especially .mp4 made with HandBrake (avi files seem OK)

Those videos play normally as long as you don't seek/fastforward into the file, otherwise the video continuously judders.
Mplayer/omxplayer and Kodi give the same result, even on internet stream. It's really bothering.

It seems that there was no problem with the 2015 firmware.

Do you have the same issue ? Is it possible to revert to the old firmware ?

Thanks for helping

Hi,
we did an update to the newest firmware because of this issue:

https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/499

So, without this fiirmware update, you cloud not watching TV or IPTV channels with mpeg4 h264 codec.

I've no mp4 files only MKV and they are working fine.

Regards,
Timo

Hi,

the new firmware is especially against your reported problems.
OK, if it will help you, it is no problem to replace the firmware by an older version. If you have an older image, you can use the tree firmware files (bootcode.bin , fixup.dat, start.elf) of it.
You can also use a firmware from the official RPI webpage.
It is also possible to revert to an older snapshot and than only upgrade all other packages.

Hi

I forgot to mention I use the RPI2 composite output with a good old CRT PAL TV, this probably explains why nobody experiences this issue.

I tested various versions of firmware found here https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/releases without success.
So my problem doesn't seem to be related with the firmware in itself. (kernel ? omxplayer ? libraries ?)

Unfortunately, I recently did a fresh re-install of MLD (due to some update authentication bug) and have no snapshot of my old working config (around late november/december) Was even stupid enough to delete my sd card backup !

In this case, I can only suggest to ask gkd-berlin to give you an old image that include all basic packages. Hi collect all images he has tested.
If you got an working installation, please upgrade the packages part by part and inform me, witch package upgrade brakes your system.

Hi,

gkd-berlin has only RPI 1 images. So he can't help you.

@all,
maybe anybody of you have a customised RPI 2 image of november or december 2015?

Hi

I use a rather standard config : vdr + dvb-t device on the pi and an nfs server for storage. If Kodi (or omxplayer) is installed on the image, I could directly test with my videos.

If you don't mind posting somewhere an image that matches more or less my needs, I'd be grateful to you.

Hi

Yes it helped  :D It was actually the new firmware. After some extensive tests, I did a fresh install with mld stable, just replacing the new firmware with the old one, and it's OK now. Thank you all !
