Ok,I got everything working but the remote?? I am using a Parex Media 9708 Remote, Basically it is a USB HID keyboard sort of. on previous versions I copied evmap to etc/eventlircd and added rule in lib/udev/rules.d and it worked fine. I tried a bunch of ways and No Go.. How can I get Remote to work?? Some keys work but not all . I tried selecting IR9703 from remote menu in setup, but that didn't work either, it did on an earlier version.

Thanks

Hi,

since it is a hid device, you du not need (and should not) to select your remote in the setup.
Did you already try with 'evtest' if all keys of your remote send signales? With that tool you see the keys that are sending by the remote. Your evmap has no effect at this point. The next step is to use the tool 'irw'. It shows you the events after translated by a evmap.

evtest shows all commands for every button, they all send signals. What does IRW do and how do I use it? I typed irw into terminal and it started something. Just not sure what to do.

I deselected remotes already from setup. I will say this though, when I do a dmesg on MLD it doesn't show up as Parex Media Remote, instead it says:

input: HID 0000:0007 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.0/usb1/1-4/1-4:1.0/0003:0000:0007.0003/input/input6
hid-generic 0003:0000:0007.0003: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.00 Keyboard [HID 0000:0007] on usb-0000:00:14.0-4/input0

On my Laptop it says:

 generic-usb 0003:0000:0007.0003: input,hidraw0: USB HID v1.00 Keyboard [PAREX MEDIA 9708 REMOTE] on usb-0000:00:16.0-2/input0

not sure why the difference

Thanks for the help. But I figured out a way to cheat, I just changed the name in rules.d to

ATTRS{name}=="USB HID v1.00 Keyboard"
  ENV{eventlircd_enable}="true", \
  ENV{eventlircd_evmap}="parex_media_9708.evmap"

and all is working properly now. Not sure why it doesn't recognize properly, but it works now.

Thank You

Did you add your rule to the /lib/udev/rules.d/98-eventlircd-names.rules file?
And can you please post your evmap file, so that we can add it to our package.
