I currently have a premium iptv subscription that I use KODI to play. I have 5.3 installed and use VDR for DVB Satellite, is there a way to play m3u playlist or stream in VDR??

I tried putting the url in network stream in VLC on MLD5.3 and get unable to open MRL even though the channel list shows up, but it works in a stand alone install and KODI iptv programs like potato tv and xtreamcodes iptv.?? For the guide info I have a link to an xml file that is updated and current and haven't tried xmltv2vdr yet.

here is a sample of my url
http://myiptvprovider.tv:80/get.php?username=anyone&password=anyone&type=m3u_plus&output=ts

there are about 1500 channels and VOD and I would like to incorporate it all into VDR if possible.

Any help would be appreciated.

you can use the iptv VDR Plugin for this. If you have install it, you will found a setup option for the channel list (m3u list) in the Setup at "TV / VDR / ..."

I tried the playlist and nothing, no channels. I tried the direct link and nothing. When I put the direct link into VLC it loads the whole playlist and plays the channels. I tried creating and saving the playlist in VLC, but it doesn't actually save the file??

But in VDR it does nothing. I just don't know how to make it work.

I was hoping to play iptv in VDR and eliminate having to use Kodi/Xbmc as the front end with an addon as the backend

This is how the channel list turned out once I copied it over, I fail to see how it sends my username and password to receive channels?? It is in the lines for the channels in the playlist. I checked the vlc2iptv file and all the others and see no reference to user/password.

When I look at the IPTV channel list the channels all have the user/pass in the line like I posted earlier, but the list it created in tv channels do not. I am assuming vlc is using the iptv list and serving it up to the tv channel list, but something isn't working. Got nothing.

until playback, the channel list will be used to get the url from the m3u list you have uploaded. So both files will be used until playback.

Well it isn't playing back, something isn't connecting or working. I can still put the network address into VLC and it gets playlist and plays just fine, but VDR is not connecting to VLC or it isn't doing something right because I get no playback on anything in VDR. All the channels are there so that part is working now, but no playback.

Can you help?

Can you give me access to one of your channels, so that I can test it myself?

It seems that is a vlc bug. In my virtual macine the vlc crashes if it should transcode the video stream.
But maybe it's hardware specific, and will work on your system after an upgrade of all packages.
