« on: February 08, 2020, 14:11:08 »
Hallo,

@villeneuve,  :)

MiniDLNA is server software with the aim of being fully compliant with DLNA/UPnP clients. The MiniDNLA daemon serves media files (music, pictures, and video) to clients on a network. Example clients include applications such as totem and xbmc, and devices such as portable media players, smartphones, and televisions.
MiniDLNA is a simple, lightweight alternative to MediaTomb, but has fewer features. It does not have a web interface for administration and must be configured by editing a text file.

Ja ich weiß was das ist, aber sehe in der Technik meistens keine Sinn/Vorteil.

He probably want to stream contents from Raspberry Pi to his smart TV using DLNA.

Maybe. Question: is there always a re-encoding happening via DLNA or does it support lossless streaming for video, audio or even both?
Btw since you're writing in English: Are you using MLD to watch BBC HD?

I think there is no encoding is done but transcoding a media file to be able to be played by the DLNA receiver.
No, i use MLD to watch all channels, not just BBC HD.  :)

Yes I meant transcoding. With all those solutions like DLNA I always suspect that a lot of unnecessary transcoding is going on, wasting both energy and most important quality.
I can't watch any BBC HD channels since years on VDR, it crashed instantly (issue is discussed on https://www.vdr-portal.de/forum/index.php?thread/131372-softhddevice-sender-in-1920x1090-vdr-startet-neu/&postID=1324922#post1324922 for example), so it would be great if you could PM me the hard- and software setup you're currently running to watch BBC HD.
